Main lesson: God does not only stop the wrong road — He gives second chances and teaches us to rejoice when He shows mercy to others.

Jonah's Story · Chapter 1

The Wrong-Way Prophet

One day God gave the prophet Jonah a mission: "Get up and go to the great city of Nineveh, and tell the people to stop doing evil." But the people of Nineveh were enemies of Jonah's people — and Jonah did NOT want God to forgive them!

So what did Jonah do? He got up... and ran the OPPOSITE way! He went down to the port of Joppa, bought a ticket, and sailed for Tarshish — as far from Nineveh as a ship could carry him. He thought he could run away from God.

Spoiler alert: you cannot run away from God. God saw Jonah on the ship. God saw him hiding below deck. And God loved Jonah too much to let him keep running the wrong way.

💡 Nineveh was about 500 miles to the EAST. Tarshish was about 2,500 miles to the WEST! Jonah bought a ticket as completely "wrong-way" as a ticket could be.
